Del Valle Elementary School Library’s MISSION is to deliver, scaffold, enrich, and assist with instructional resources that will help implement the district’s curriculum in a way that provides a productive learning environment for students. The library will cultivate a safe, comfortable learning environment for students and faculty in which they have access to a wealth of instructional resources that will: —Enrich and support the curriculum by incorporating student-centered learning activities into lessons —Actively collaborate with teachers as an instructional partner focused on student learning needs —Promote the enjoyment of reading to expand students’ learning experiences —Refine student’s abilities to effectively use research methods and skills —Promote students’ use of critical analysis skills ~Ultimately, the goal is to create an environment that results in students who are independent, 21st Century, life-long learners. ~
Grades K-5 visit the library on a regular basis. The DVES Library’s flexible schedule allows for multi-uses in the library where students attend library class, work on class and individual computer assignments, Mini-I pads, and drop in from class to keep their independent reading alive or to complete research...all at the same time!
